Team

Originally operating from two small offices in Italy, Nebulab has embraced a remote-first approach. We now comprise a diverse, globally-distributed team, whose unique insights and experiences continuously enrich our culture and enhance our problem-solving abilities.

At Nebulab, we foster an inclusive environment that makes no distinction between color, gender, nationality, race, disability, or any other personal attributes. We believe that merit lies solely in an individual's ability to excel at their work and empower their colleagues.

Our team is our most valuable asset. It's their dedication, creativity, and expertise that make Nebulab a vibrant and innovative company.

Structure

Below is a bird’s eye view of the Nebulab organizational structure. The sections below the chart explain in detail what everything on the chart is and what purpose it serves.

Departments

At Nebulab we try as much as possible to keep a flat structure that promotes cross-functionality. The main departmental distinction is between our main department and the supporting departments.

Execution and Delivery department

As a consulting firm, our revenue comes from building and selling expertise and tools that solve our clients' and customers' problems—that’s what this department is for.
The department contains people that specialize on consulting work for clients as well as people specialized in doing product work and research on our own products.

The leadership in this department is split up between a CDO and a CTO:
The Chief Delivery Officer is responsible for handling all consulting engagements and client relationships, and collaborates closely with Business Development, and Operations to streamline, improve and sell our services.
The Chief Technology Officer ensures that tech solutions align with client needs and business goals. They also provide technical leadership and expertise both internally and clients, guiding project implementations and technological strategies.

The majority of the department is structured around Engagement managers—professionals who spearhead cross-functional teams primarily composed of designers and engineers. Each manager oversees the individuals within their teams, and a single team can handle multiple projects at different times, depending on availability.

Supporting departments

We also have three supporting departments:
Operations: responsible for coordinating hiring, performance and compensation management, training, employee engagement, and other people-focused initiatives, as well as budget planning, forecasting, invoicing, and overseeing all administrative and legal operations and initiatives.
Business Development: responsible for coordinating our sales and marketing efforts, and developing policies and strategies that allow us to be leaders in our market.
Visual Design: responsible for any visual design work required by the other departments (e.g., the Nebulab website, marketing LPs, etc.).

Communities

Within the departments, those who share a similar job function will be included in a loosely coupled group where the culture is what bonds people together.
The above chart shows the most relevant communities in Nebulab, plus there are some others that were hard to represent but are listed here:
Leadership: they define Nebulab’s strategy and ensure the right team is there to execute it. All of them have a c-level position—mostly for clarity of purpose outside of Nebulab—and, despite their role, you can see them contributing all over Nebulab.
Engagement Managers: managers coordinating one or more teams of individual contributors.
Engineers and Designers: they make up the majority of Nebulab’s team and they are the individual contributors designing and building products.
Partners (not shown): part-owners of Nebulab. They are: Alessandro Desantis, Alberto Vena, Davide Di Stefano, Matteo Galliani, Matteo Latini.
Co-Founders (not shown): Those who started it all, in 2011. They are: Alberto Vena, Davide Di Stefano, Matteo Latini.
