Effective Product Listings

Your Product Listing is how you grab the attention of visitors to  newzealand.com . How you describe your product, the imagery you use and the details you provide all help potential customers understand what your listing offers.

 

Add important details

Make sure you stand out and help set guest expectations with clear and descriptive copy.
 

Write an attention-grabbing listing summary

Try to capture the essence of your product, in summary, it’s the first thing a visitor will see.
Use emotive language. For example, if you have a Bay of Islands kayaking product you might write ‘Enjoy a tranquil afternoon with the family, kayaking through the crystal-clear waters of the Bay of Islands’.
Focus on key selling points. What makes your product special? What sets you apart?
Avoid using emojis, exclamation marks, jargon or Kiwi phrases, as these will be removed during moderation
 

Tell the story of your product in the description

The listing description allows you to go into more detail about your product. Think about what a visitor would like to know about your product
e.g., for an accommodation listing a visitor might ask themselves:
What style of accommodation is it?
Is the location close to any attractions I might be interested in visiting
Use clear and compelling language and be authentic. Visitors to  newzealand.com  are interested in what makes your product special, and XX% say the story is one of the key factors that make them explore more.
 

Help customers find your product with tags

When you create a listing you have the opportunity to select relevant ‘tags’ or product types. These determine where your product is displayed on  newzealand.com  from the order in which they are added. You should select the most relevant tag first, then other tags that might apply to your listing. Tags are moderated so only select the ones that apply to the exact product you are listing.


Make it easy for customers with direct web links

Make sure you’re entering website links that take visitors directly to the product you’re advertising. This ensures a smooth customer experience, making them more likely to book.
 

Use compelling imagery

The photos and videos you choose can say a lot about your product. In particular, your cover photo will be displayed on your listing card and be the first image seen by visitors viewing your product. We currently limit listings to 10 visual files, which can be a mix of images and videos.

Make sure your images are of high quality - 1080 pixels wide is recommended
Make a strong first impression with a standout cover photo
Choose clear, well-lit images
If you have multiple aspects to your product (e.g., different activities), try to include images for each
Add descriptive captions to enhance the visitor experience
 
Only submit photos where you know who took them and can attribute these to someone or a business in the Image captions. This is for copyright reasons.
 

Link your Qualmark rating to your Product Listing

All product listings are displayed by default on  newzealand.com  based on their Qualmark rating. To appear higher up in the listings it is important to add your Qualmark ID to your listing. Make sure to enter it on the first page of your listing.

Enter your TripAdvisor information

Similarly to Qualmark, potential travellers can choose to filter product listings by TripAdvisor rating. As TripAdvisor is recognised internationally, it is useful to add this information to your listing. See our guide on linking your  TripAdvisor account .
