Use comments in Slite to give feedback, ask questions, or start discussions — directly in context.
Whether you’re reviewing a full doc or just one sentence, comments help your team collaborate async without cluttering the content.
You can use comments in two ways:
- Global comments — about the entire doc
- Inline comments — attached to specific parts of the doc
How to Add Comments
Add a Global Comment
To add a global comment:
Click the
icon in the top-right of a doc to open the comments panel

Add a comment… and start typing

In the comments panel, global comments appear first, followed by inline comment threads ordered by global comments.
Add an Inline Comment
To add an inline comment:
Highlight an element
Click the
icon to the right of the toolbar that appears

Tips:
- You can press
Command-Option-M(Mac) orCtrl + Alt + M(Windows) to add an inline comment. - You can press the up arrow to edit your last comment.
- You can add a line break by pressing
Shift-Return. - You can @mention docs and people in your comments.
- You can add images by pasting, dragging and dropping, or using the image button in the comment toolbar.
How to View New Comments
There are two visual cues when a doc has new comments:

icon in the top right turns yellowThis icon will turn yellow when there’s at least one unread comment (global or inline.) Click it to view the comments thread.

You can use the comments panel to filter by Unread, open, or resolved status.
A comment bubble appears to the right of the commented element
Individual bubble icons will appear next to each part of the doc when there are inline comments.
Clicking on them will display each thread, and you can navigate to the previous or following thread by using the arrows.
These bubbles will turn yellow when there's a new comment that you haven't read yet.

How to Manage Comment Threads
Resolving Comments
You can resolve comments once the points have been addressed, to tidy your doc. Just click the "Resolve" button in the top right of a thread.

To view resolved comments, open comments panel in the top right and click
Resolved.Deleting Comments
You can use the three-dot menu in the top right of a comments thread to delete it.
From this menu you can also choose to:

Comments on deleted text keep their previous status (open or resolved) and we show the excerpt of the deleted text.

From the three-dot menu, you can also choose to:
- copy a link to the comment
- edit the comment
- unfollow the thread
Notifications
When you leave a comment people will be notified when:
- They're @mentioned
- They've written in the doc
- They follow the doc
- To follow a doc, click the three-dot menu in the top right and choose
Follow updates.
