Rather than implementing a traditional 2FA system (password + verification code), Slite leverages identity providers' authentication systems and a passwordless option to create secure access methods that don't rely on passwords as the primary factor.
How to Set It Up
The setup process varies based on your authentication method:
For Email/Password Users
Click your workspace logo in the top-left corner.
Select
Settings from the menu, then stay in the My settings section. In the
Account security sub-section, click Add external authenticator next to 2-factor authentication.Follow the on-screen instructions to add a passwordless authenticator (e.g. 1Password.)

You are essentially adding a WebAuthN authenticator. This authentication mechanism relies on a 2FA external device.

For SSO Users (Google, Azure AD, Okta, etc.)
- 2FA is managed through your identity provider
- Contact your IT administrator to enable 2FA at the identity provider level
- Once enabled, you'll need to complete 2FA when signing in to your identity provider, which then grants access to Slite
Admin fallback: When SSO is enforced, only users with workspace owner/admin roles can still use email/password as a backup method.
SSO enforcement: When SSO is enabled, it becomes the only way for regular members to sign in.
Check Who Enabled 2FA
If you are a workspace owner/admin, you can export your list of members as a .CSV to see who has enabled 2FA:
Click your workspace logo in the top-left corner.
Select
Settings from the menu, go to the Member management section.Click
Export .
